Bitesize Stories of God's Touch
Below are selected testimonies given at the end of 2005's Weekends Away.
2005 Weekends
WOLDINGHAM PARK (South)
I had a great weekend and it was worthwhile making the effort to travel from Scotland to Surrey. I found the speakers to be eloquent and powerful in witnessing to their journeys to Christ. I was astounded at the great courage shown by men how their past lives had been so dramatically altered through accepting the Holy Spirit.
It was a great weekend as always. I found the small group time a rewarding experience of such deep and prayerful sharing.
The facilities and location are excellent for the price. The talk on learning to pray was second to none. The programme was well organised, obviously with a lot of thought going into it over the years.
My wife was so pleased with the changes she could see in me after the last weekend in 2004 that she encouraged me to immediately book for the 2005 weekend as she thought it was excellent value for us both!
It was a great weekend. I attended so as to support others, thinking I’d received so much out of the last three weekends I had been time. However, I got so much again out of coming along this year. The new way of doing the groups is very good I would really support that again for next year. Another highlight for me was the anger management workshop, which met me just where I needed it to.
from one man's wife - I just wanted to say thank you myself, because I can see how much the men’s weekend helped my husband. He has told me what a wonderful experience it was. He has told our friends all about it - and in particular how it brought great healing to him. The effects have been more apparent as time has progressed. I think it took the weekend and sharing with other men to help him really ask God for the reassurance and peace he has been searching for. Part of me felt a bit sad that as his wife I couldn't have helped him more with his spiritual journey. I can see that there is something special about being in the company of other Christian men with a strong faith which has helped my husband, and that there are some situations where only other men can really help men.
Thanks for all your hard work and contribution towards a very enjoyable and fruitful weekend. I would have liked to have had the opportunity to attend more than one workshop. There where several subjects of interest. That said I realise that the time frame is very tight and repetition of the workshops may be impractical. The food was fine, accommodation fine, excellent surroundings and environment and the speakers interesting, educational, inspiring and challenging and the company of the other participants most agreeable.
The weekend was excellent for me and gave me a nice break. A great weekend allin all. We need to get more guys to attend next year (half price if you bring a friend?)!
It was a very good weekend at Woldingham. Just what was required! I was very impressed by the combination of spiritualities present whilst not compromising the faith.

STONYHURST COLLEGE (North)
Thank you for a really paced weekend. The Friday night was great. Workshops are a great idea. The small group sharing time was very special The input from the three speakers was of a high quality AND God spoke to me. One problem solved, one new issue to wrestle with!
The men’s weekend was a key milestone in my journey of faith and for my Anglican friend who brought along two of his friends. We are now looking to form a new faith sharing ecumenical men’s group in our local area with our inaugral meeting to be arranged for sometime after the summer holidays.
The weekend was great. Saturday night was very powerful, and the speaker spoke with great passion and commitment. I really believe God spoke to us through the words "to seek His face" and "to offer Him our chains". The man’s moving testimony on Sunday of a very real personal experience of God was a witness to the power of His Spirit with us that night.
Thanks for another great weekend at Stonyhurst [my fifth]. I was really blessed. I think being placed into small groups with people unknown to you is an excellent idea. I hope the same format will remain for future years.
I very much enjoyed the weekend at Stonyhurst, and will put next year's event into my diary when it is posted. I could find no fault with the event, its location or the environment. I came away refreshed in the Spirit. The sharing reflected back to me the love of God which I have already experienced but to which worldly cares can make me blind and forgetful.
